For each version: what was added, what works better and what was fixed. Newest version first. Every version has its own link, so you can point straight to it.

Relink a recording

When Leike can no longer find a recording, for example after moving over from Podcut, one button lets you point at it again. Analysis, edit and clips stay as they were.

New

  • Locate the Recording… When a project says "can't be opened", this button lets you choose the file again. Everything works again afterwards, without a new analysis.

Fixed

  • Clear message. Instead of a technical error about the file format, Leike now says which file is missing.

Podcut is now Leike

The app is now called Leike, Finnish for clipping, with a new icon in a lighter, warmer style. Leike has its own folder on your Mac; bring projects over from Podcut by dropping the recording in again.

New

  • New name. Leike is Finnish for clipping: the piece you take out of an episode. The name now appears everywhere: in the app, on the website and in the exports.
  • New icon. The same waveform and cut line, now in ink and coral on a light morning sky.

Known

  • Its own folder. To your Mac, Leike is a new app (eu.leike.app) and does not see Podcut's projects. Exports stay wherever you saved them. You can delete Podcut.app once you are done comparing.

Pause a clip

The button that plays a clip now stops it again too, and the speakers sit higher up in Edit.

Improved

  • Speakers higher up in Edit. The Speakers block now sits right below Start and end, so you see the speakers straight away and can name them.

Fixed

  • Pause a clip. Play Clip becomes Pause Clip while the clip plays. Press it again and it plays on from where you stopped. The same goes for Play in the menu of a clip in the list.

Clips for approval

Every clip now has a fixed number, and Leike prepares the text, times and speakers of each clip to send to your guests.

New

  • Fixed clip numbers. Every clip gets a number: 01 is the best. The number stays the same when you select or deselect clips, trim them or change their title. It shows in the list, next to the title and at the start of the file names.
  • What's said. Each clip shows its text exactly as you hear it, per speaker and with the time within the clip.
  • Copy for approval. Paste the text straight into an email to your guest.
    • Copy for Approval copies one clip.
    • Copy All Selected Clips copies them all at once.
  • Clips – approval.md. The export adds a file to the Clips folder with each clip's number, text, duration, times in the recording and in the episode, speakers and files. At the end it lists which clips each speaker is heard in. Switch it off in the export options.

Improved

  • Clip files by number. Exported clips are named after their fixed number, no longer their place in time. So 03 in your email always matches the file that starts with 03.
  • Speakers in clips. The speaker is decided per sentence, as in the transcript. Single words at the border between two speakers no longer end up with the wrong one.

Known

  • If you delete the clip with the highest number and then make a clip yourself, the new clip gets that number again.

Dutch and English

Leike now speaks Dutch and English, and shows which version you have and what's new.

New

  • Dutch and English. Choose the language in Settings, General: your Mac's, Nederlands or English.
  • Exports in your language. Show notes, transcript and the default speaker names follow the language you choose.
  • What's new. After an update, Leike shows once what has changed. You can also find it in the Leike menu.
  • Version in view. The version and build number are in Settings, General and in About Leike, with links to the release notes, privacy and licenses.

0.1.0

First test version

The first version of Leike. Drop in a raw recording and you get an episode that is ready to publish, plus clips for social media. Everything runs on your own Mac.

New

  • Smart start and end. Leike finds where the episode really starts and ends, and leaves out the soundcheck and the chat afterwards.
  • Cut suggestions. Long silences and filler words ("um", "uh") are marked. Turn them on or off by type.
  • Edit in the text. Click a word to jump to it. Select text and press X to cut or R to restore.
  • Timeline with handles for the start and end, plus Start here (⌘I) and End here (⇧⌘U).
  • Speaker recognition. Each speaker gets their own colour. Give them a name and it appears in the transcript and show notes.
  • Social clips. Leike picks the strongest moments, ranks them and writes a title. Make a clip longer or shorter one sentence at a time.
  • Clip formats 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9, with burned-in captions that highlight the spoken word. Audio becomes an audiogram with your artwork. Video is cropped to the speaker.
  • Export everything in one go:
    • the episode as M4A and WAV, and as MP4 for video
    • subtitles (SRT, VTT), timed to the edited version
    • transcript and show notes with title, description and highlights with times
    • clips as video, audio and subtitles
  • The right loudness. The episode goes to −16 LUFS (adjustable) and clips to −14 LUFS, the level used on social media.
  • Speech enhancement (Clear) for noise and reverb, optional.
  • Intro and outro: set them once and every episode gets them.
  • Your own show: name, artwork and brand colour return in audiograms and captions.
  • Works offline and privately. Transcription, speakers, clips and titles use on-device AI by Desert Ant Labs. Leike downloads the models (about 1.1 GB) once.
  • Liquid Glass design for macOS 26, with a new app icon.

Known

  • Speakers are called "Speaker 1", "Speaker 2" at first. Name them yourself in Edit.
  • Changed silence settings apply to new analyses. Choose Analyse again to apply them to an existing project.
  • There is no MP3 export. M4A sounds better at the same file size and every podcast host accepts it.
  • The first time you open it, macOS may say the developer is unknown. Right-click Leike and choose Open.
  • Requires macOS 26 on a Mac with Apple silicon.
