Privacy statement
Your recordings stay on your Mac.
Leike processes your audio, video and text on your own computer. Below is exactly which data the app and this website do use, and why.
In short
- Your recordings, transcripts, projects and exports are only on your Mac. They don't go to a server, not to us either.
- The app has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
- The app connects to two services: Hugging Face to download the AI models, and Desert Ant Labs for the license of those models. What is sent is described below.
- This website measures visits with PostHog (EU) and Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager). Neither sets cookies until you give consent; the statistics are anonymous.
Who is responsible
Leike is made by Hello Labs BV. Send privacy questions to hello@howmightwe.agency.
In the app
What stays on your Mac
Your recordings, the transcripts, speakers, cut suggestions, clips, your settings and every export. Leike keeps projects in its own folder on your Mac (~/Library/Containers/eu.leike.app). Exports go to the folder you choose. Delete a project in Leike and it is gone from your Mac.
Downloading the AI models
With your first recording, Leike downloads the AI models (about 1.1 GB) from Hugging Face, and again when a model has a new version. As with any download, Hugging Face sees your IP address. None of your content is sent.
Desert Ant Labs license check
The AI models are made by Desert Ant Labs. Their license is free up to a number of active devices per month. To count those, Leike requests a license from events.desertant.com when a model loads. It sends:
| Data | Example |
|---|---|
| Random install ID | A UUID created on your Mac. Not linked to your name, Apple ID or device. |
| Model and version | For example Voz and its version number |
| Version of the AI software and the platform | macOS |
| Which app | eu.leike.app and the Leike version |
No audio, no text, no file names and no speaker names. Desert Ant Labs B.V. is responsible for this data. In the app's privacy details (Apple) this is listed as "device ID, not linked to you, for app functionality, no tracking".
Mac App Store
When you buy Leike in the Mac App Store, Apple handles the payment. We don't receive your name or payment details. If you have turned on "Share with app developers" in macOS, Apple sends us anonymous crash reports. You can turn that off in System Settings, under Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements.
On this website
- PostHog. We use PostHog to see how many people visit the site and which pages they read. PostHog runs in the EU (Frankfurt), stores nothing in your browser (no cookies, no local storage), creates no person profile and respects your browser's "Do Not Track" setting. Your IP address is anonymised on receipt.
- Google Analytics. We use Google Tag Manager (container GTM-5HZBF2X4) and Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit the site and which pages they read. You choose through the cookie notice. Without consent, no cookies are set and Google Analytics only receives anonymous signals without identification. With consent, Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga, up to two years) to recognise returning visits. Google also processes that data outside the EU. We keep your choice in your browser (localStorage); change it through "Cookies" at the bottom of every page. If you want none of this, block googletagmanager.com in your browser or content blocker.
- Fonts. The site uses fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser fetches them from Google, and Google sees your IP address.
- Hosting. The company that hosts the site keeps technical logs (such as IP address, time and requested page) for a short time to keep the site secure.
- Email. If you email us, we only use your address and message to reply, for example to send you the test version. We keep the email as long as needed.
Your rights
You can ask which data we have about you, and have it corrected or deleted. Because Leike stores nothing about you outside your Mac, in practice this only concerns email. Write to hello@howmightwe.agency. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If what Leike sends changes, we update this statement and mention it in the release notes.
